Meet the Escondido Team Behind Rowan Construction Group Escondido

Our Escondido crew handles kitchen and bath remodels, roofing, windows, fences, pavers, and home additions from San Marcos to Valley Center. What ties us together isn’t a handbook - it’s the habit of writing the price before we start, photographing every visit, and fixing anything that isn’t right within a year. Grant Rowan built this standard in 2007, and the people below execute it daily.

Grant Rowan - Owner

Grant started Rowan Construction Group in 2007 after ten years of watching homeowners get quoted one number and invoiced another. He built the company around a single discipline: the written price, delivered before any work starts, with a scope that doesn’t balloon unless the customer signs a change order. That discipline became The Haven Standard, and it’s why Rowan’s projects finish within a few percent of the original quote across 4,000-plus jobs. Grant still reviews every kitchen and addition estimate personally - not for show, but because he’s the one who has to explain it if the number drifts. He lives in North County with his family and will admit, if asked, that he once installed a cabinet upside down on a Saturday job and had to reorder the entire run. “That’s when I started the photo record,” he says. “So the customer sees what I saw, and I see what the crew actually did.”

Mike T. - Lead Technician, Roofing & Exterior

Mike’s been on roofs in Escondido for fourteen years, starting as a laborer hauling shingles in Rancho Bernardo and working up to crew lead. He holds a GAF Master Elite certification and specializes in identifying why tile roofs leak at the valley - usually it’s a skipped membrane layer or a cracked birdstop that the previous installer caulked over instead of replacing. Mike can read a roof like a blueprint: he’ll tell you the shingle layer count, the condition of the substrate, and whether your soffit ventilation meets current code. Off the job, he restores vintage motorcycles in a garage near Daley Ranch and brings the same tolerance-for-no-bad-work to both trades. “A roof either sheds water or it doesn’t,” he says. “There’s no ‘mostly waterproof.'”

Daniela R. - Senior Installer, Kitchen & Bath

Daniela came to Rowan six years ago from a high-end cabinet shop in Carlsbad, where she learned to fit KraftMaid and Wellborn boxes into houses that were framed in the 1970s and had settled in ways no level could fix. She specializes in the transition between old and new: matching existing hardwood, extending tile patterns, and making an addition look like it was always part of the house. Daniela is certified in Schluter waterproofing systems and will not start a shower until she’s verified the weep screed is open and the pan liner is properly lapped. Her human detail: she keeps a notebook of every customer’s paint color and grout brand, indexed by street address, because “someone always calls in three years asking what we used.” She lives in central Escondido and has two dogs who have learned to stay off her tile samples.

James K. - Service Coordinator

James answers the phone when you call Rowan at 11 PM because a storm peeled back your shingles, and he’s the one who schedules the crew, orders the Belgard pavers, and makes sure the permit is pulled before the concrete truck arrives. He’s been with Rowan since 2019 and knows which inspector in Escondido wants the fire separation detail called out on the ADU plans and which one in San Marcos cares more about the egress window dimension. James coordinates across all seven trades, so when a kitchen remodel turns into a home addition because the customer decided to bump out the wall, he doesn’t lose the thread. He grew up in Valley Center, still lives there, and spends weekends coaching a youth soccer team that has never won a game but shows up every Saturday anyway. “The schedule is the promise,” he says. “If I tell you Tuesday, it’s Tuesday.”

Tyler B. - Apprentice, General Construction

Tyler joined Rowan in 2023 after two years at a Palomar College construction program and a summer of fence installs that taught him he didn’t know as much as he thought. He rotates between trades - roofing, windows, pavers, rough carpentry for additions - and is currently working toward his contractor license with Mike T. as his supervising qualifier. Tyler’s specialty is the detail work other people rush: sealing the window flange correctly, setting the paver base to true grade, cleaning the job site to the point where the customer doesn’t find a single nail in the planter bed. He lives in an apartment near Westfield North County and is rebuilding a 1986 Toyota pickup in the parking lot, which his landlord tolerates because Tyler fixed the complex’s fence gate for free. “Grant told me on day one: the photo record protects you when you did it right and catches you when you didn’t. Both are useful.”

One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard applies whether we’re replacing three windows in a San Marcos condo or building a 900-square-foot ADU in rural Valley Center. Under Clause 1, the price is written before anyone starts. Under Clause 3, no change proceeds without a signed change order.
