The Aspire line upgrades to full-extension undermount drawer slides rated for 75 pounds; the plastic rear bracket is the failure point we see in Escondido’s dry climate, where thermal cycling between 105-degree August afternoons and 45-degree January mornings fatigues the polymer. Identification is straightforward if the cabinet is less than 15 years old: open the drawer and look for a stamped foil label on the right-hand side of the box, or check the hinge arm for a small “WB” oval mark. No label usually means pre-2010 construction, and we measure on-site - box depth, hinge boring pattern (35mm cup, 3mm offset, or true inset), and slide length to the half-inch. • Drawer drags or binds in the last two inches of travel. • End panel or toe-kick veneer is peeling at the seam. The hot-melt adhesive has failed from heat buildup in exterior-wall installations, common in Escondido’s older homes with minimal wall insulation. The panel needs replacement, not re-gluing, to survive the next summer.
• Sink base floor is swollen or delaminated. The 3/4-inch plywood has wicked moisture from a slow drain leak, and the particleboard core (present in some Essex economy specs) has turned to oatmeal. This is structural; the entire base cabinet needs evaluation.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s where we draw the line honestly. A homeowner with a Phillips head and patience can swap a Blumotion insert - it’s a clip-in part, no tools beyond a fingernail. Same for adjusting a six-way hinge: turn the screws, test the reveal, repeat. What goes wrong fast is re-boring a stripped 35mm hinge cup freehand; the Forstner bit walks, the door is ruined, and the replacement cost just tripled. We don’t recommend DIY for drawer slide replacement in a Wellborn base cabinet - the slides must be parallel to within 1/16 inch over 21 inches of travel, and without a cabinet jack the box distorts during installation.

The bigger risk is structural: if your sink base floor is compromised, the cabinet is transferring load unevenly to adjacent boxes.
