Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu uses two primary window and door specifications across their ADU lines: the standard Series 100 vinyl-framed units found on pre-2021 builds, and the upgraded Series 200 aluminum-clad wood windows and fiberglass doors that became standard after 2021. The label is inside the top track of sliding windows or on the hinge side of doors, stamped with a four-digit code starting with either 100 or 200. OEM Abodu windows come from a single-source supplier with a 12-16 week lead time. We source equivalent-grade units from Andersen, Milgard, and JELD-WEN that match the thermal performance specs (U-factor 0.30 or better, required by Title 24) without the wait. The aftermarket frames fit the Abodu rough openings, which are typically 2 inches wider and 1.5 inches taller than the nominal window size. One compatibility gotcha: pre-2021 Abodu units used a nail-fin mounting, while 2021+ switched to block-frame with a snap-in trim kit. Signs Your Abodu Windows & Doors Is Failing

• Window sash won’t stay open or slams shut. The balance spring or coil mechanism has failed, usually from corrosion accelerated by Escondido’s dry heat and occasional marine layer moisture. We see this most on south-facing units in the Kit Carson Park area where afternoon sun bakes the hardware.
• Door sticks, drags, or won’t latch without lifting. The hinge screws have backed out of the composite jamb, or the threshold has settled with the concrete pad. Abodu doors are heavy fiberglass slabs; once the jamb shifts, the latch misaligns by an eighth-inch and the weatherstrip compresses unevenly.
• Visible moisture between double-pane glass. The insulated glass unit (IGU) seal has failed, allowing condensation that etches the low-E coating. In Escondido’s inland climate, this typically happens at year 8-12, sooner if the unit faces west and absorbs daily thermal cycling.
• Draft along the frame or sill, even when closed. The compression weatherstrip has hardened or the interlock where the sash meets the frame has gapped. Santa Ana winds in fall will find any opening; we measure with a smoke pencil to locate the leak path.
• Cracked or warped vinyl frame. Heat distortion from reflected sunlight off adjacent hardscaping, or impact from landscape maintenance. Abodu vinyl frames are multi-chambered for insulation; once the outer wall cracks, structural integrity and thermal performance both drop.
